Well, after all that, Altuve's spot never came up again... Lopez didn't lose the game for us by being overextended... and Carpenter likely is the losing pitcher if you believe in events playing out just as they would have unfolded.
Its not hindsight... I said it well prior that this game would likely not depend on Altuve's spot in the lineup coming up again. Its like complaining about not having your closer available prior to the game for a game that you don't even know if you're going to be in position to close. Plus there's the facet that you don't want to overextend your bullpen pitchers this early in the season (which the Marlins apparenlty believe strongly in).
kind of bad to pinch hit for your number 5 hitter. Hopefully he gets moved down the order until he starts to turn it around.
Of course it is, but in that situation given how Bogi has been hitting I don't see another alternative.
Isn't that always the case with speedsters though? Most of the good ones are at the top of the order, so the heart of the order is always going to be coming up for them.
