Embracing a conspiracy theory that Houston’s front office is manipulating injuries to create an advantage at the trade deadline would potentially mean: Alvarez, Paredes, and Pena come back next week. Arrighetti and Javier continue their rehab progression and next week have their MLB returns announced as the 1st week in August. France and Garcia continue their rehabs and next week have their MLB returns announced as the 2nd week in August. Next week the Astros also release positive injury updates on Melton, Meyers, and Dezenzo.
The best case was ~3 weeks, and that was in the unlikely event his sprain was mild. Even a moderate sprain can take up to 6 weeks to heal. A severe sprain (which is possible based on how it looked on the replay) could require surgery and several months of recovery.
It appears to me that there is a pattern of undereporting the seriousness of injuries because ALL Astro injuries have recovery times that are execeptionally long.
It was tough to watch this weekend, but yeah...the positive in it is that the mariners are only 1 game closer to us than they were a week ago.
