For all the people complaining about Walker - we have him hitting 4th and really, he is a #6 hitter in a really good line up, He doesn't hit for a very high average, he doesn't walk a lot and he can strike out too - but he has pop.
Isn't that the story of his life - the difference between Silver Slugger awards and having to worry about whether you will lose your starting job to some kid in the minors.
I think he would be a crazy good #6 hitter, but I understand what you are saying. Because of the lack of impact depth in the Astros lineup and his big FA contract, we fans expect him to he a top 3 run producer on the team. He is much more of a good hitter with great defense, than an all-star level hitter. But he walked 10% of the time last year and 9.6% for his career. That's significantly better than MLB avg, which is about 8.5% and would have been behind only Alvarez, Tucker, and Singleton on the Astros last year.
