eta: I thought he had a player option (it's a team) for '26... So forget whatever I said....if he can hit again, somewhat, mostly, bring him on.
I hope not. I’m an optimist and I firmly believe we haven’t peaked - the best is yet to come! (but if you want to look around the forum, the water is fine - peek away!)
Other than the pimp job Julio did, Framber actually looked really good. Especially considering the home plate ump was blind.
He might have done that to Cabbage earlier in the season so this was Cabbage returning the favor. Anyhow, Julio was asked about the play. "That’s what it’s all about,” Rodríguez said. “You have two teams clashing out there. I feel like that’s what’s fun about the game. We’re all competing for everything, two teams chasing first place. Game respects game. I respect them, they respect us and I think it was pretty cool when he threw the X up."
I haven't checked Meyers statcast data in a while. His metrics had fallen off pretty hard after the hot stretch, but they've picked up and look really good again. He's actually been getting pretty damn unlucky over the last month. His expected OPS is back up to .809 for the season.
Mariners center fielder Julio Rodríguez couldn’t help but smile. Astros right fielder Trey Cabbage had just reached over the wall at T-Mobile Park to rob him of a home run in the eighth inning Saturday night and flashed a low-key version of the “no-fly zone” gesture that is Rodríguez’s trademark. “He got me at home [earlier this year] so I had to give a subtle one back to him,” Cabbage said. “That was fun.”
For some reason that reminded me of one of my favorite Larry Andersen quotes. He threw a rehab-related "simulated game", and a reporter asked him about it afterwards: "It went great, I'm gonna head to the clubhouse and have a simulated beer."
