It’s pretty moronic when you think about the fact that maybe the ONLY good situational hitter on this team, Dubon, was used as a pinch runner. In a situation where you desperately needed to move the runner over at a minimum, Espada decided to stick with Chas instead. Who even he doesn’t have faith in right now as he’s been riding the bench.
I think there’s a solid possibility of this happening in the off season. Almost zero chance though during this season.
If you've gotta send Loperfido down then at least play Dubon in LF. Dubon should have been batting for Chas, not pinch running. Man Espada has been a big disappointment.
It’s the same thing over and over and over again. All the smart guys are gone and it’s like we’re just all sitting here waiting for these guys to flip the switch but unfortunately for us both sides of the switch say off.
What a disappointment. I also find it sad that despite a third of the reason being gone, Espada/Brown don't seem to realize that Bregman batting in the top 5 isn't working, Abreu needs to be cut, Dubon needs to be playing nearly every day, and Loperfido should be as well until he proves he can't hack in the majors. Instead, we are seeing the same thing we saw at the beginning of the season. Abreu is a black hole in the line up, Bregman continues to be awful yet gets a top 4-5 spot in the lineup, and because of Chas/Abreu being back Loperfido, is in AAA and Dubon is riding the bench.
You are probably right But I don’t think any of us should be too confident in how Crane will react We have never been in this situation under his ownership, not even close I don’t expect Espada to be fired in season, but it wouldn’t shock me. Especially if rumors of players going to him about it are true
One thing to Espada’s credit. The players complaining were likely doing so even while we were winning last year. You don’t need that on your team.
This team has to show some heart. They can't get swept. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of confidence in them right now. There are just so many issues! They're just not a very good team this year Unfortunately. As for Espada, I've seen enough to feel pretty confident that he's not the guy. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt earlier in the year, but I'm solidly in favor of him being replaced now.
If you have Alruve, Tucker, Yordan, Pena coming up, I’m all for Dubon as the runner there But not at the bottom of the order And I still think we need Chas to break out for us to get to where we want to be But right now Dubon is on a heater and Chas is struggling badly and hasn’t played much That should have been a very easy pinch hit decision. Hell I woke my wife up yelling WTF are we doing when I saw him burned as the runner
