LOLOLOL, I went to bed during the 8th knowing Pressly was up. I was thinking how much he reminds me of Playoff Will Harris. Figures he gave up the game.
Didn’t watch last night Read a lot of comments most of which are true and needed This one is simple though We have played the first place team twice and neither time did we put our best possible lineup out there. I’m pretty sure our manager knows it too. Until we decide to play our best, the other stuff won’t matter
Positives: - Hunter appears to have turned the corner - Hader got rest - Abreu dominated - no new injuries Negatives: - everything else Maybe Espada learned to keep Bregman away from cleanup and keep Jabreu away from defense. .
If Jim Crane’s response to Bregman whining was anything other than “you are a pending free agent making $20M this season who isn’t hitting, and you are coming to the owner to whine about the manager??? b****, stfu and play better.” Then I don’t know wtf to say about that.
Lot of unhappy Astro fans this morning. These late night West Coast come from behind losses can take a lot out of you. Jbreu being forced back in the lineup going about as expected. Pressly sucked big time. Just not that dependable anymore. Lots of issues with this team that need to be sorted out. How many games in a row have we only scored in one inning? It is really sad watching this team implode like they are. Shake up the lineup. DFA Jbreu. Do something. Even our once more dependable players like Tucker are starting to suck. Losing is contagious.
Just remember.... if you haven't given up on the season yet, there's still time to do so. A heart attack is not worth it.
Too late of a game for me to stay up and watch only to be pissed off and I see we lost again..................ughhhhhhh. I was befuddled at the line up when it came out, can we not put the best players out there to play the first place team, I mean are we trying to win or soothe people`s massive ego`s. Abreau at first base makes no sense with the way he has played, make him earn his way back, the dude should only pinch hit when it doesn't matter, the dude cant hit nor play the field........................for real man, what are we doing? The team needs an overhaul and that starts with the Manager and GM and the so called "advisors" of Bags, Biggio and Reggie need to back away, take the L on Abreau and move on
Pressly is horrible this season. How this guy ever closed games is beyond me? He couldn’t close the lid of a coffee can correctly.
Yep. I was struggling to stay awake and when they didn’t score in the 7th, I told myself “no way I’m staying up to see them blow this.”
Jose Abreu isn't "the" problem, he never was. But this team simply can't afford to carry around a 2 way lead anchor that is actively making the team worse. They may not be good enough as is, they certainly can't add to the issues. Lost in the mix was Hunter Brown's continued good pitching. If him and Arrighetti stabilize I'm still confident this team will be really good the rest of the season..as aggravating as it is right now. The team has lost it's last 6 games by a combined 10 runs, I think stretches like that will even out.
For me, I was tired before the game started and knew I wouldn't finish so I didn't start watching. I checked the score a couple of times. It is just hard to want to watch West Coast games during the week while having to be at work earlier than previous seasons.
Another blown game. Not surprised. oh yeah….next road trip is west coast games with late starts. Not gonna stay up to watch more implosions. One more oh yeah…I doubt they ever make it to .500.
Espada needs to grow a spine and stand up to Bagwell/Reggie/Crane... that may actually earn respect from them and the clubhouse. But he can't even stand up to Larry Vanover let alone Angel Hernandez before he was sent to baseball ****.
Hard for the pitching to last if they have to routinely get 2-3 extra outs per game because the defense especially at first base is that atrocious.
Astros Position Rankings in fWAR OF 2 (RF 2, CF 3, LF 4) 2B 3 SS 10 3B 23 C 19 DH 19 1B 29 SP 27 RP 24 I'd say 1B (Abreu) isn't the only problem. I didn't expect 3 SPs to have ERA north of 6, and I didn't expect the Astros to be one of the worst in blown saves. I expected to be 1 or 2 at DH as well as being up there at 3B and C. Also, playing LF has been the cure for every bat to play there except Chas.
Order of issues: 1. SP injuries 2. SP ineffectiveness (mostly in April) 3. RP ineffectiveness 4. Jose Abreu 5. Poor offensive timing/luck All other issues are relatively minor, although Bregman has certainly been a disappointment. Without the SP issues, this team is very likely leading their division. But nobody expected the trio of Hader/Pressly/Abreu to blow so many games, and no contending team should be playing a 37 year old 1B with far below replacement level performance over his previous 1.3 seasons. Getting swept by the Mariners here won’t be a definitive end to the Astros season, but it will certainly have reversed any positive momentum they created since the Mexico trip.
