I don't want them in the WC spot, if they can't win the division they should feel the sting of failure and come back next year with more fire. DD
I understand this feeling for sure...and I'm not arguing with you. But holy crap have our lives as Astros fans changed where we would literally turn down a playoff appearance lol. I waited 11 years between 1986 (12 years old in junior high) and 1997 (first year of law school and newly married) to watch us get swept by the Braves in the first round...and I remember how pumped I was that we just won the division. And then waited another 10 years between 2005 and 2015 between that first NL pennant and WS appearance and finally sneaking in for a WC game against the Yankees...and being elated that we were in the playoffs once again. Now we're like, "eh...if we can't win the division who cares?" lol What a massive change for this franchise we love.
What about win remaining 6 games and Texas going 4-3 (or worse) in their last 7? That means Astros win ALW and Texas and Seattle battle for WC. Edit. I missed the CONTROL part. That requires Rangers to lose at least 3
i actually prefer them going this route since we are better on the road and barely making it in would hopefully light a fire under their butts
It sure would be nice to see Maldy on the bench and both Chas and Yainer in the lineup for this series. That would at least give me a better feeling that at least somebody gives enough of a **** to field the best team in what is a must win 3 game playoff in Seattle. Of course it won't happen but it's nice to dream sometimes.
This is stupid. Postseason baseball is a crapshoot and if the Astros make it they'd literally be the odds on favorite to win the AL Pennant. As bad as we've looked lately if this team plays well enough to get in I'd pick them over any other team in the AL. Granted the Braves and dodgers would clobber us but that I can live with.
Verlander will not get past the 1st Inning- reverse jinx. The Stros hit rock bottom yesterday yet they are running on fumes still in the playoff is strange.
