What was all that about anyway? What did Neris say to Julio? Why is there bad blood there?

Not a fan of Neris' actions. Love the fire, but no need to walk towards the batter like that.

From what I understand there isn't

I have heard that they are actual friends

Furthermore human language is a complex thing. What an English speaking white guy hears is not always what a Spanish speaking Latin guy said.

And different Latin American and Spanish speaking countries use different words as expressions.

I guess what a guy from the DR says as basic trash talk is interpreted by a guy from another country as a slur.

And English speaking Mariner's fans just look for ways to stir things up when they don't understand.

Agree with this, regardless of what was said or not said.

They're supposedly buds with a history of friendship.

    Under normal circumstances, I'd agree...

    ... But at this point my tolerance for misbehavior in the name of lighting fires is heavily inflated - within reason, of course :}

Question on the Wild Card... is it just the opponent we are waiting to finalize? Because it's a three game series with all three on the road, right?

    What exactly is the question?

The top seeded wildcard will play the wildcard series at home, the other two on the road. If the Astros are a wildcard they cannot be the top seeded wildcard (99% chance it will be TB and if not it will be Baltimore).

Should've thrown at the batter...but striking him out was better.

Seattle fans and media are 10 ply, far too soft and thick to handle normal sports banter, the Sonics were right to bail on them.

The Padres are out of the playoffs...... he hasn't pitched more than one inning in 3.5 years... and he is going to be a free agent.

He would be stupid to agree to pitch more than an inning.

I love the fire from neris.
This is what the team needs at the moment.
He could have thrown inside at someone but put the team first.

I love that Neris really cares. The Astros have been good for so long and are so professional that sometimes it feels like they are going through the motions - so seeing Neris showing some real fire can be nice to see, and maybe it fires others up.... but you can't walk towards the batter like that. That is something that Roger Clemens or Nolan Ryan or Bob Gibson would MAYBE do once or twice in their career decades ago when the game was different. Neris is lucky - a lot of hitters would not have handled like Julio did.

Suspended first 10 games of 2024 season after he signed with the Mariners to play with his buddy Julio Rodriquez.

The Neris thing was instigated by him and I can't say I like what he did, but I will give him credit for having balls and being the anti-Joe Kelly: if you are going to bow up and talk mess after a strikeout, at least Hector walked right up to the opponent as he was doing it and not making pouty faces while walking away from the batter and towards the dugout.

Neris got the team fired up. I loved it. The team started the run immediately after. I don't really care for all the he shouldn't have done this or that. He stood by his actions and it came after the day before a number astros were drilled by pitches and not a damn thing was done. And it caused Chas to miss the game

This is competition at the highest level in a season outlook game. Emotions ran high and it showed. Stros sent them home and now the focus is on arizona. The stros move onto the next one
