Hitting with RISP has been our weakness for a good while now. We have crap coaches. Becoming obvious.
Meh, Correa can't put it in the hands of the ump in that situation. Failure on his part in that situation. A bunch of uptight poor situational hitting continues to plague this team. Can't let this go as far as they did last year. IF they have another bad April, the hitting coach needs to go.
Damn, I missed the early start. Looks the bats missed the start of the season. Morton's stats aren't good. Sipp saved his best for contract year.
Sinking low fastball like that would most likely have induced either weak contact or a GIDP. Then more would complain about him having swung at ball 4 and not coming through. Main mistake, as per most AB's, is not doing enough with the hittable pitches in the zone.
Who is even the hitting coach? I'm a big fan but I couldn't even tell you. Whoever it is needs to #earnit as someone else said or hit the bricks. This is getting to be pretty pathetic.
Think I will pretend the season won't start til May 1. I will check back then. Maybe the stros will actually give a sh*t at that point. Sure don't right now.
That's basically apart of my point that's why I made the comment about poor situational hitting and how big a problem it continues to be.
He's the guy who always gets blamed by every single city, when their team goes into a collective funk.
And still 4-4? Great pitching typically does outweigh great hitting. Its also more consistent, usually only goes away if somebody gets injured, and has less variables involved in whether it works or not. The hitting will come around... then everybody will be clamoring for them to "save runs".
blow the entire roster now! I mean blow up the entire roster now not blow. not that there is anything wrong with that.
Their pitching is their strength. If they could just get their hitting up a few notches, they would be doing much better.
Like clockwork, the homers are here to excuse whatever happens because something else will happen soon.
We're still the healthiest we will be all season. McCullers hasn't started a road game yet, where he morphs into Enron Lima. The .500 record is a weak .500.
Not a big fan of Hinch or most of his staff. It is no secret I don't like a lot his decisions or his general philosophy. However most of the Astros struggles have nothing to do with Hinch or his staff right now. The Mariners deserve some credit, their staff is good and it has shown. Some of it is bad luck/sample size. What will concern me is if the Astros go 2-6 or 3-10 and Hinch continues to have a laid back indifferent approach. At 4-4; it is something concerning but not panic level. At some point Luhnow will figure out you get what you pay for with guys like Morton and Fister and Chris Carter and Scot Feldman.
