I can't remember a run of ground balls being fielder's choices rather than GIDPs like theres been over the last two weeks.
Wow. If Giles had blown that 4 run lead how demoralizing would that have been? Thank goodness his slider is nasty. He couldn't hit the back of a school bus with his heat.
I actually wanted them to win tonight to cool off the angels....but I suppose it doesn't matter this early.
Nice win. I felt like that kid going after a soccer ball ,in a busy street, in that weird commercial root sports likes to run.
man, it was annoyingly cold for an April game. Enjoyed it though. Really empty for a "good" team with a good outlook for the season in game 2 of their home schedule.
You seen Sam Dyson at all this season? Let's all just relax for now. Got 150+ to go. But if it ever got to the point where we had to make a change, I sure wouldn't mind seeing Devenski.
Devenski is going to get consideration for sure. We already saw him be the choice in the 9th on Sunday in a tie game. Giles hasn't actually had a save opportunity since game 2. Needs more of those types of opportunities (with success or failure) before thinking about change.
I've seen a lot of closers, not just Giles, come into non save situations and struggle. It's stupid, a 4 or 5 run lead is no different than a 2 or 3 run lead, but it does seem to be a thing. As for the game, hopefully getting a few to drop will get Tuve, Bregman, and Gurriel going. Gurriel in particular was making some really good contact last night, which he hasn't been doing. 5-4 now, that's a 90 win pace. Of course that's a stupid extrapolation to make, but it just goes to show how overly magnified results this early can be.
