Tuve and Go's baserunning hurt, but if we play a little more smartly, and Gomez continues to hit, the loss will be worth it.

Bullpen did great. Bats did better in RISP.

@UncleTonyP like the optimism but wouldn't say "great" outing when you walk 7

Simply put this team is what their record says they are, a bad team. Like others have expressed this team is poorly coached, undisciplined, low IQ, low fundamentals, just a flat out bad team. This team was definitely over-hyped and are not as good as people thought but the coaching is not helping so a fire needs to be lit under the manager's ass first if it hasn't been already. This team keeps making dumb ass mistakes and Hinch should have a stop sign currently on players taking liberties to run the bases, they are just too dumb right now to give the green light. Hinch is not holding this team accountable.

    He scored the first run...

2nd time up he smack a line drive that the pitcher made a great play on.

And 2 k's in big spots. The walk in the second is one that you and I could get. Now he did had a good at bat with the line drive but really, he just put the bat. Man if you don't see the guy is struggling only by watching his at bats, and I see it, then go to the numbers lately.

Now, I want Hoyt in the majors, period

Until he has a few bad games and then you want to get rid of him and bring up the next "big thing" and so on and so forth.

2 of the runs came on solo HRs and had nothing to do with walks.

Where is our Aaron Rodgers R.E.L.A.X. commercial?

These guys came off multiple 100+ loss seasons to get into the playoffs way ahead of what everyone thought, and now, with all the pressure the fans are putting on them, these young guys are struggling. How quickly you have all forgotten how bad it was. Give them some time to adjust, Club Astros will come back, and things will work out.

Have you seen Hoyt pitch? The guy has great stuff. Actually, for a "reliever" i think he has better stuff than even Feliz.

What is concerning is the combination of how we ended last season and the start of this season.

I think this team will definitely go on a run at some point though, with this boom or bust offense I think you have to accept that there are going to be high peaks and low valleys. Let's just hope that the peak is much greater than the valley and we don't end up at .500.

When the starting pitching... and situational hitting... are not both near the bottom of the league, wins will come.

Have you seen Straily??? Have you seen his stats in AAA??? He should be up and starting and is better than McHugh and Feldman and everyone.

But we ended last season playing fairly well and taking the eventual champions to the brink. I understand what you're saying, but you have to admit, that was in the playoffs and against a good team.

If the Rockets nearly closed the Warriors out in the WCF and then lost in either 6 or 7 in tight games, I don't think I'd be pointing back to last season and saying "look how we ended though". I would look at that part as a relative success (at least not a failure in any way).

Regardless, the start of this season is still poor in many ways.

I don't so much mind the Gomez steal attempt. Hindsight shows it is a mistake, but it makes sense to try and steal a bag in the 9th inning down a run with the bottom of the order coming up. That is aggressiveness that I can live with, unlike the out Altuve gave up (it really felt like the momentum completely changed on that play).

What cost us was once again failing to drive in base runners. Runners on 2nd & 3rd with 1 out, with 2 of our best hitters coming up, and we don't score.

Even though once again Fister had an OK start in terms of runs, he continues to teeter on the edge of disaster. He is clearly the odd man out when McCullers gets back, but I'm not sure the team should wait. It is clear his velocity is gone, and his control isn't there either.

Yep. The steal attempt was a good baseball play. Unfortunately, a bad result. (although the Astros should never try to get into scoring position as their hitters are miserable then :) )
