Agreed. Throw out your best players, try to win games, and force other teams to chase the Astros. Anything more is just playing with fire. They aren't going to move Keuchel back, no matter what happens between now and gametime. If nothing else, they risk losing him for Tuesday in that scenario if they have to pitch him over the weekend.
Here's an interesting scenario. If Angels go 3-0, Astros 2-0 then all 3 teams in AL West would be 86-75 and Monday baseball would be guaranteed for Astros.
Regardless of what the Angels, Rangers, Yankees or Twins do, the Astros are assured of at least a tie for a playoff spot (and Monday baseball) if the Astros win Friday and Saturday (or Friday and Sunday, or Saturday and Sunday).

So aside from our Stros, who are we rooting for again? Angels or Rangers? I know it is petty but perfect scenario would be Rangers out, Astros win the division, Angels win the wild card.
Have to agree. He has to go to the pen for the playoffs. There's simply no way he can be trusted to start a game right now...especially when you have the rest of the rotation pitching so much better. He's unnecessary right now. The only way for that to happen is that we sweep, the Angels sweep, and then we play a 1-game playoff for the division on Monday at home against the Angels.
Definitely a long shot but this would be the best case scenario by far. Has anyone laid out all of the different scenarios? If we win out we make the playoffs but I am wondering about scenarios for us to win the division. If Angels win 1-3 and we sweep, we will be tied with Rangers so would we then have a one game playoff to see who wins the division and who is the wildcard team?
Somehow, we won in spite of Kazmir and his bad pitches. I'm not sure I'm ready to declare the curse of the Kazmir over, though. It took a minor miracle to win that game.
he's saying we would play monday whether we win or lose on sunday, in that scenario. we'd be either tied for the division or tied for a wc
Yes, there would be a 1 game playoff between Astros and Rangers if the Angels win 3 out of 4 and the Astros sweep. Also, the Angels could sweep the Rangers and the Astros sweep Arizona and there would be a 1 game playoff between Houston and LA.
I saw a tweet last night from someone saying that Seattle went from 2 runs to 6 runs in a total of 5 pitches. That's crazy.
