Angels-Rangers series couldn't come at a better time - the season isn't over yet. I feel like this is a good time to give a shout out to the many people on this thread who have been fans through the ups and downs of this team for years. Making it through this last decade as a fan is no small feat.

Its definitely not over... it would definitely be more bleak if the Angels and Rangers weren't playing each other to end the season, but its still right there for the Astros.
We all knew that we wouldn't sweep this road trip. We all said that 5-1 should be good enough to get it done. Well, I'm choosing to believe that we knocked the 1 loss out early and are now going to get the rest of those 5 wins.

Right? We as fans have absolutely 0 outcome on a game whether we watch or not, wear the same gear or not, show up or not, or mention the term no-hitter or not.

I think David Rollins is a former Astro, was also suspended for PEDs this year. SEATTLE -- Manager Lloyd McClendon announced over the weekend that he would put the Mariners' best foot forward during this week's series against the playoff-contending Houston Astros, and he proved it by making some shrewd substitutions Tuesday during Seattle's 6-4 win. His best foot might not be enough to obstruct the Astros on Wednesday, thanks to a lack of arms. Left-handed starter James Paxton's torn left middle fingernail, and an oversight on the 40-man roster, will force the Mariners to push a reliever into a starting role for Wednesday's game, and McClendon is likely to use several pitchers just to make it through the night. It is not a perfect scenario, particularly with a contending team in town for a huge game in terms of the pennant race, but McClendon had very little choice. Young starters Taijuan Walker and Mike Montgomery already were shut down due to innings limits, and the bullpen was tapped for a fill-in starter, lefty Vidal Nuno. The team didn't add any extra starters during the Sept. 1 call-ups, even though Paxton has a history of health problems, and now the choices are few. Among the current relievers who may start Wednesday night -- and pitch only two or three innings -- only left-handed veteran Joe Beimel has more than three career starts at the major league level. However, Beimel is 38 years old, and he hasn't made a start since 2003. Closer Tom Wilhelmsen made two spot starts last season, but he finished off Tuesday night's game by throwing 1 2/3 innings, earning his first win in four months. Logan Kensing, who has three career starts, could be an option unless Seattle opts to give rookie right-hander Mayckol Guaipe or rookie left-hander David Rollins his first career start Wednesday. Kazmir makes me nervous. I feel pretty good about how they'll end the season if they win tonight, honestly....rotation down the stretch is set up well. Gulp.
Yep, he hasn't thrown more than 35 pitches in a game since he was called up. Although it sounds like the Mariners only intend to have him pitch 2 or 3 innings anyway.
Tonight is an absolute must win. I still believe in this team even though they drive me crazy at times. Speaking of Astros fan I've been one since 1980 .....

It really is unbelievable how pretty much every team around the Astros continues to win at a scorching pace in September (pretty much every team around them is playing .600 ball).
Only Kansas City & Oakland not in contention are worse. Kansas City did their work early and have no worry. Angels had their bad month last month.
