good win...glad the bullpen could pick up for VV. Despite his bad start, its good to see the guy 'struggle' through 4 innings and only give up 1 runs..it could've been much worse. Also nice to see the Astros put up some runs
became a fun game to be at later. It was a little slow with the long ABs against VV. I like VV, but the short outings were exactly what I was worried about when he came up. Hope he shows more the next time or 2 out--otherwise it'll clearly be Feldman for VV later.
It's disappointing to see VV struggling when he was probably the best pitching prospect. But we have 13 pitchers on the roster and it may not be the worst thing to let him and LMC work out their issues when it comes to control. I don't think it's realistic to expect to be a serious contender this year so letting the young guys get experience could be a viable strat. Especially when you consider our other options. 93P in 3.1 IP is obviously terrible, but there probably isnt that much to be gained by replacing him. And only upside to be had by keeping him. Maybe give him 1 more start but I wouldnt startup the blame game if he was sent down. Let him throw more changeups. I dont understand how they just hit foul after foul. That was so frustrating.
It will be interesting to see how Velasquez pitches going ahead. The Mariners were very patient at the plate this series. Even Keuchel had difficulty getting outs for a few innings.
After 70 games they have the most wins in the AL, they have been in first place for a long time and you still don't think they are serious contenders?
