No doubt he was a great player way before he met Fowler

But the guy is still a "kid" in many ways. I do think having the "right" veteran around can really help out young guys. I'm sure being a big league player is like walking off of Earth and into a new planet in many ways.

Springer will be just fine, his swing and approach is likely going to make him somewhat of a streaky player over the course of his career, but there is nothing wrong with that. The guy is gonna be a stud. But I do agree with the original post to a degree, I do think it is important to have the right guys around the young talented ones

No way i'd turn that deal around though. Valbuena has the look of a guy who could be around a while and help us with his stick. I'd like to see him as a super sub long term on a very good team

You're still talking about the guy that had access to Fields, Sipp and Qualls... and had Jerome Williams try to save a 1 run game against a first place team.

Yes, the bullpen is most definitely better with Neshek and Gregerson... but it was not chopped liver after Fields/Sipp/Qualls settled into their roles. Its just inept managing and a lack of experience that it took over half the season to get to that point.

    Ok maybe you are right

I don't think a pen with those three as you best guys is very good, just my opinion

Back em all up two spots though, and two really good ones at the back end like we have now, and it's a great pen

You're right, its not very good... I never said it was. But it is serviceable, and was not the "worst" in baseball after they fell into their roles (which could have been dictated, in part, by the front office).

I agree that this year's bullpen makes this team a helluva lot better... and Hinch has been masterful in his handling of it thus far.

Springer doesn't have a season under his belt, and people are calling him a "great" player?

Kid has a ton of potential, but he's a "great" player already to some of you?

Man it blows my mind how easily people throw that word around.

If Springer is "great", how do you describe Griffey, or Mantle, or Clemente, or Mays, etc?

HOF players, right? HOF players are "great", not some kid who has a grand total of 342 career AB's and .222 career batting avg thus far.

Like seeing Marwin in there again tonight, he really seems to do well when spotted against the right guys

Gonna be tough tonight with the Rox and Stros both playing at same time

Might have to head to a sports bar and hope we can get at least one TV on the first place Stros!

Cosart just needs to f it up from an off-the-field standpoint a little more for me to be completely over it.

His character likely further helped them make the move.

CB Bucknor? I feel like I remember him making some awful call either in the early 2000s, possibly the World Series year
