Also wtf did Lonnie Chisenhall say, really curious about that. He turned and put his arms up and said something to Joyce. He didn't help the entire situation to begin with, that's for sure.
I think I found "snowconeman" in the comments section of the ESPN article: Abe Green · Bob Jones University Even if it a terrible call, aren't you supposed to finish the play and stop the runners before arguing? Sure no runs should have scored, but there is no way that two runs should score on a wild pitch.
Sadly you ask why did he call time.... There was no point in that if you feel the ball was not touched. He knew he screwed up.... I am glad Castro didn't go after the ball. Prove your point. That is b.s.
He doesn't cross the plate until after time was called. I am curious why they allowed that second run to count...
That... The runners breaking home without hesitation... The apparent hearing loss that prevented Joyce from recognizing the sound of a ball hitting a bat..... It's the perfect ****-storm of obvious events that leads to appropriate rule changes.... I still can't believe that foul ball vs. wild pitch isn't a reviewable play (especially since HBP vs. foul ball is).
The funniest part is if he had gotten the call right (i.e. didn't hit the bat), he still would have screwed it up and cost the Indians a run by calling time. To be honest, Francona had every right to go out there and argue this as well but he didn't because he knew the call was wrong to begin with and has some class/respect.
It honestly makes no sense at all that it can't be reviewed. MLB needs to get there **** together and some of these umps need to retire now.
* their **** together. Can't even type when I'm still pissed about a play. Great try on that Reed! lmao smh Chapman's best inning ever
