Please keep this to talk about the series. As usual no Play-by-Play, or general Astros talk. If you need play by play see one of the many other sites that have game casts. 5-14 Felipe Paulino, RHP (0-5, 4.67) vs. Todd Wellemeyer, RHP (1-3, 5.97) 9:15 on FSH 5-15 Roy Oswalt, RHP (2-4, 2.63) vs. Tim Lincecum, RHP (4-0, 1.86) 3:10 on FOX 5-16 Brett Myers, RHP (2-2, 3.52) vs. Barry Zito, LHP (5-1, 1.90) 3:05 on FSH
I'm going out on a limb here and saying WWW. 2 sweeps in a row. 16-21 On the way to .500  Again I'm being very optomistic.
Didn't Wellemeyer pitch well vs. the Astros when he was a Cardinal? Hope this series doesn't erase all the good they did in STL.
Well Cy Latos as BB calls him, just 1-hit the Giants recently so maybe Astros pitchers can do something similar, though I wont count on that.
LLW...I hope I'm wrong, and would love the astros to pull it together, but I can't get my hopes up just because they bet the Fm Cards...
This team is all about surprises. Just when you've written them off they go on a tear, only to fall to earth after you start believing in them again. So I say after a sweep of St. Louis they'll take another series against the Giants, handing Lincecum his first loss of the season. That will be followed by a 5 game losing streak to the Dodgers and Rockies where our offense scores a combined 4 runs. Then again, if the bats have finally come around and we can manage to take at least one game, we'll head into a soft part of the schedule and could be back at .500 by the end of the month.
LLL...nothing really to see minus certain players increasing their trade value. Worked last time so lets try it again...
Agreed. I worked in the San Jose area for a year and even worked with a Giants fan but never made it out to a game. Fail. I believe that Paulino had one of his worst starts of the season in SF last year and if I recall correctly, SF has owned us over the last 12 games or so, something like 11 out of 12.
He also drove in the winning run for them like I believe he did against the Astros. Having said that, Houston and SF have 2 of the worst offenses in baseball. That doesn't take everything away from Latos because he still pitched a couple of gems. Before those last 2 outings though, he had an 11+ ERA on the road.
Zambrano imploded in relief and the Cubs lost today. They've matched us in the loss column. We're 1 game back of them. I have no expectations for this Astros team but I would love to leapfrog the Cubs in the standings, even if only for a few days, just to see the reactions of Cubs fans. Is it evil to wish for such things?
