This really isn't funny anymore. And yet, in some sick, twisted way, this game really has been kind of funny.
are the outfielders out of position or the giants are just hitting the gaps well? geez let's just get this unlubed sodomy over with
I wasn't really paying that close of attention (why would I) and didn't realize he replaced one "-ino" with the other.
We need to forfeit. It only counts as one loss, so we'll be ok. Let's get the next two and finally be back at 500!
Questions: How do you think this outing will affect Paulino going forward? Do you think he'll get his next scheduled start?
It doesn't necessarily and certainly not in one game but over the course of a season, it is extremely highly correlated with success. Only 6 teams in the history of recorded baseball have ever made the postseason with a negative run differential.
I really hope this start doesn't get to his head. But I think this was the last straw. IMO, he either gets skipped, or will be sent down. No reason to hold Norris or Bazardo back anymore. They've gotten the job done in Round Rock.
I hear you but even if they do send down Paulino, I'm not sure they would call up Norris or Bazardo yet until one of Moehler, Ortiz or Hampton fails or gets injured (both of those things are distinct possibilities though).
Does anybody else think Towles should get another shot once Q's numbers hit rock bottom? Yes, I'm assuming they will hit rock bottom. I know Q plays good D and has good chemistry with some of the pitchers (I don't think you can blame him for tonight's debacle) but he is about as much of a blackhole on offense as you can find. Meanwhile, Pudge has a .676 OPS on the season. Me, I'd like to give Towles another crack at it. He's putting up good numbers at RR and I think it's worth trying to get more O out of the catcher spot. If he sucks again, bring Q back, assuming Q has options left.
WOW! Just drove home to Florida from Nags Head, NC ... Astros played GREAT during my whole vacation. Trudged in, lazily clicked on the computer ... BACK TO REALITY!
Absolutely. This is kind of one of the side effects of always feeling like you're in contention - there's a tendency to not let young players just play. Towles has 200 major league ABs. Yes, he's struggled horribly in them - but if they believed a year ago that he was the catcher of the future, they need to give him more than basically 1/3rd of a season to see that. Almost every young player outside of the superstars struggles at first. It can take a year or two for even a lot of the really good ones to settle in. Run him out there and sink or swim with him.
