big W. RoyO will shut em down. Lowry's first start of the season? he'll be rusty! lance goes the other way from the right side!
We can't really argue with the rainouts now... it allowed us to essentially get a 3 game series in San Fran, with 2 of them being started by Roy Oswalt on full rest. Also a win tonight does, technically, count as yet another series win... lets get it back on track.
Well if it's any consolation to some in regards to the weekend sweep, the Cards are getting shutout by Colorado right now. Hopefully Oswalt dominates tonight though; the team needs to start a new win streak.
Roy looks like he's having trouble getting warmed up... 58 degrees out there, and probably will get colder when the sun sets.
Boy... are these guys streaky. When its going bad... everything goes bad... fielding, hitting, and Roy not using his head when he's pitching.
Oswalt's not looking good at all tonight. There comes a time where your ace pitcher needs to stop the bleeding and help your team beat a bottom of the cellar team like San Francisco seriously, half their ****ing team is batting .200.
Oswalt could be getting a little dead-arm. This seems like the time of year where they're facing their first bout of arm fatigue, and they're going to get mixed results. He suffered the same thing last year, about the time he got shelled by the Mets... and came back strong after taking some time off between starts. Man... two leadoff doubles in back-to-back innings, and possibly nothing to show for it.
Ugh ... Morgan better get going and fast. Can't keep missing these opportunities At least Preston has it going!
At this point, I'd flip-flop Ausmus and Lane... Brad's average and OBP is startling right now, and needs to be utilized while he's still hot (and not stuck in the 7th spot). Or, if you really wanted to take advantage of Brad... bat him 2nd or leadoff!
Lane is leading the team in runs scored - I think he's in a perfect situation. Lane's getting on base through walks, and Ausmus and Everett are driving him in. Since Lane is walking but not hitting, he wouldn't drive Ausmus in if they flipped.
True... but Lane's walks are somewhat negated by his still high amount of K's, and extremely low batting average. All this wouldn't be neccesary if Ensberg was still hitting... his slump (and Biggio's anemic road offense) is a major reason why the offense is plundering. (although I still think having Ausmus' .439 OBP in the 7th spot is a big waste... compared to say Willy's .279 in the #2 spot).
Taveras' OBP is .336, but I still agree with you. I've been saying since half way through last season that Willy should be hitting toward the bottom of the line up.
This sucks ... we really needed Oswalt to be the stopper tonight, but he has been about as bad as I've seen him in a long time
