Don't want Biggio to play too many innings in one day... and we all know what Lamb has done against Morris. Hell, as hot as Berkman is, Lamb is batting 3rd.
aaagh Morgan makes that play at third 10 out of 10 times. I think Lamb would have been more suited to play first.
The field looks horrible out there... and we're going to have guys pitching with too much rest (arms don't respond to that), and then guys like Buccholz are totally out of sync. This has just been a nightmare series (but if we get a couple of wins, I won't complain).
Ensberg isn't playing due to a staph infection on his ankle. It is minor. He wassupposed to fly in yesterday to be available for today. I haven't heard if he made it in or not. Personally, I would have started Bruntlett.
Ahh... since it was an injury, they wanted to give Buccholz as much time as he could to warm up. They wouldn't have been able to do that had they PH for Brandon... along with the reasoning that they didn't want to burn a position player (on a long day) so early.
Lamb was going to play against Morris no matter what Ensberg's condition was... the fact that he had the infection merely solidified that decision.
That puts us at... 13 - Backe/Buchholz / Oswalt 14 - Pettitte 15 - Wandy 16 - Nieve 17 - Backe (if Healthy), maybe Buchholz, if not Zeke gets called up 18 - Oswalt
