So, Berkman has had a ho-hum SCORCHING start to the season... and yet the national media will still go crazy over washed-up Thome, and K-machine Dunn. I thought they loved Lance?!?
Tonight when my daughter and I say our prayers ....... we're gonna thank the big man for Roy O . Hes the man plain and simple .
Berkaman is on fire!!! very nice to get a split. Roy O again showing how valuable he is to this team. On a day night double header where we used something like six pitchers in the first game, for Roy to come in and give the bullpen a night off, just cant be measured.
Time for uncle Drayton to open up the wallet, 40mil is about to be off the books with no Pettitte and Bagwell next season. Even if Andy comes back it will not cost 40 mil for those two. (Roy and Andy) I hope a long term deal can get done at the all star break but I heard Roy will not talk contract during the season.
He's still got one more year... he'll negotiate at the same time that Lance negotiated... which will be this winter.
Great game as usual for Roy . I wish I could say the same for Lane . I'm not sure if I should worry or not about the guy . Hes drawing more walks but , a few hits scattered in here and there would be nice . Berkman is showing that hes the guy to take over for Baggy and Biggio as the face of this organization when they step down . I wish I could say with confidence that MoBerg is the guy to compliment Lance for years to come , but Mo still worries me . Another young bat to go with Lance for the future would be sweet .
Jason Lane is going to hit, and hit for power... he's done it at every level of the minors, and last season. He's a pretty good hitter, period. The walks are really nice to see, because plate discipline was the one thing lacking from his game. If he can keep those up when his bat comes back around he's going to really be a force in the lineup.
If Biggio continues to suck, I'd almost like to see Willy moved to leadoff and Lane in the #2 spot, with Biggio moved to #6. In front of Berkman and company, Lane would get some better pitches to hit. Right now, smart pitchers will just give him crap - if he swings, great. If not, walk him and just face Ausmus, Everett, and the pitcher.
Ensberg is way improved than what he was when he first hit the majors. From what I have seen so far this season 90% of his at bats are quality at bats. Got to keep in mind though that after his all star season last year pitchers are being a lot more careful with him. Only problem I have seen so far is he strikes out looking quite often, at least more than one would like him to. Hopefully he works out the kinks. I have full confidence in him to be the long term compliment for Berkman. Talking about Berkman I hope he continues at this pace so we could make a case for MVP. It would be nice to see someone take Pujols off his high horse
Is that what they were chanting? I couldn't make it out. All during the 9th inningthey were chanting something as the pitcher were in the middle of their delivery.
I don't see how anyone could NOT love Lance. He's like a cuddly, Elvis teddy bear that hits homeruns. Oh, and Roy is a badass, plain and simple. When he got that double play that he started off the grounder up the middle, and I saw him immediately turn to start his throw, I just knew it was going into centerfield. But then he took just enough off it to allow Bruntlett to glide over in front of the throw to continue the DP. Awesome stuff. I think that was the most ground ball outs I have ever seen Roy get in a start. Maddux-esque.
Wouldn't it be cool if Berkman is at 1st and Burke takes over at 2nd to form the next decade of the Killer B's?
