guy is so underrated its ridiculous. still hasn't put together a monster season, but he's pretty darn good just the way he is.

i think it was you who recently said it, but, he isn't the type of pitcher that will fall off soon, and he can realistically pitch well for at least another 4-5 years. assume we will be good within that time span, and i would say trading him would be a mistake. you aren't going to get back a better pitcher in return, and once he's gone, he's gone. i won't be surprised if they deal him, but i wouldn't. him, bud, and lyles should be our only untouchables.

He is a backup for the worst team in baseball. The true reason is that he has missed time due to injury. If he had stayed healthy, it wouldn't be inconceivable that he could have made the all-star team similar to Omar Infante last year.

29 years old, not a prospect, small sample size, no history of this kind of production. Career .737 OPS in the minors, where he's spent 11 seasons.

He'll give you a .270 to .280 batting average over time, with a mediocre walk rate and little power. His biggest asset, speed, is going to be the first to drop off due to age.

I actually see him as a solid #2 guy on a contending rotation. The problem is the fact he hasn't put it all together and that's still an issue. He has had three, working on four, solid to good seasons but still waiting on his monster year, until then I can't look at him as A) untouchable or B) true ace. We MIGHT be good in 3 or 4 years and by then 35/36 years old???

Love the guy but sell high, he might have hit his peak and this is as high as he could go. Consider the RJ deal in 1998, Stros got a legitmate ACE and gave up a quality top of the rotation starter for many years, future all star SS and a decent 4/5 starter. Not saying Wandy is RJ or that he'd return that kind of haul but what if the Yanks called and still needed a SP badly...Jesus Montero at catcher would sure look nice, wouldn't he?

Norris was plain nasty today. I know the Dodgers are a bad offensive team but he OVERMATCHED them. Bud hasn't just been good lately, he's been dominate!

    he sure has.

i'm not one to correct grammar, just genuinely would like to know the answer to this: shouldn't the word at the end of that paragraph be "dominant"? i ask because i have recently seen an abnormal amount of usage of "dominate" the way you used it, including on a show info description on uverse, and it's gotten to the point where i'm beginning to question myself, and maybe i'm the one misusing "dominant".

can somebody please clear this up? it's officially driving me nuts.

i thought so, but i've seen 5 people use "dominate" within the past 4 months or so.

it's like if your name is bob, and everybody is calling you jack, eventually you're going to wonder if you fell on your head or something and forgot your name.

While he is right...I wouldn't be talking smack after going 1-18 and getting your coach fired for an 80 year old dude.

Hey Lo, at least Astros havent lost 16 of 17! Ha.

What mess that team is. Lost something like 16 of 17. Manager resigns(though was going to be fired). 5th manager(4th different) in 7 years I believe.(McKeon, Girardi, Gonzalez, Rodriguez,McKeon again now). They want Ozzie!

Yea, ever since Josh Johnson went down they have gone in the toliet. I don't follow them close enough so I imagine there is more to it but that it a pretty bad stretch with a team that has their pitching.

I'm starting to wonder if the Twins will end up winning the AL Central.

Twins remind me so much of what the Stros used to be and not just because of the comebacks. Just a well run middle market organization with very smart people in the right spot. If Crane wants to look at an org to copy, it would be Minny.

I'm sure he's already formulating a plan to emulate the Rays and Twins.

I hope they lean more towards Minnesota because Tampa is the extreme small market example while Minny is more toward middle market org the Stros should be.
