    You can theoretically bring a pinch hitter in with every pitch. A pitcher brought into a game HAS to face at least one batter.

    Every pitcher must face at least one batter. So if a pitcher has already faced one or more batters, he can be replaced before an at bat is over.

    Are the Astros announcers saying anything about Berkman? He came up limping after sliding into home.
