What a game. It didn't matter who won that game, though. The Astros have to win no matter who won that game. Angels were clutch.
but I'm not worried about the Rangers. I know we can take the division but that would require 3 more wins, 2 against AZ and another against Texas on Monday. Knowing how Texas has owned the Astros I am not optimistic. Then, should the Astros lose, they have to play again against the Yankees the next day in in the WC game. Will the Astros be ready to face the Yankees after playing a weeks worth of must-win games? I'd rather take the sure thing and clinch tonight, then get ready for he game Tuesday.
If we got to that one gm for the division against the Rangers on Monday looks like they would have Gallardo going.
If the Rangers had won today's game, the Astros will be in a much better position. if you are counting the Astros to win tonight anyway, then tomorrow's game will be meaningless for every teams, which the Astros can pitch VV or Jon Singleton or whoever the fork. They can save McCullers for the one game against the Yankees. But now, well.
This with out a doubt has to be the wildest ending to a season I've witnessed. The amount of possible scenario seem endless from us possibly winning the division in a play in game with the Rangers.... To possibly hosting the play in game with Dallas on the hill where he's 15-0 against a collapsing Yankees team... To playing the Angels for a chance to make it to the playoffs... To not making it at all. What makes this more insane is that our games I believe are at the exact same time tomorrow. Time to bring in the second TV. First and foremost, win. Just... Freaking... Win.
I really don't understand this sentence... you would think the Astros would be MORE prepared to play the wild card after multiple "must-win" situations, including a division championship game on Monday. Its not like its going to drastically effect their pitching (hell, thanks to last night, the bullpen will at least not be overworked going into next week).
The absolute best position the Astros can put themselves in is a direct trip to the ALDS... either way, they have to win a one game scenario to do that, but I'd rather have two chances to do that instead of only one.
So you actually think Kashmir or a short rest Dallas will be a better choice over McCullers against the Yankees?
The Angels have to win tom as well...Right now the Astros just need to go out there and take care of business. Win tonight, and it all takes care of itself...The Rangers will have to play CH tom if the Astros do their job tonight.
Not just that, would you rather have 2 chances to win one game, or one chance. The play in game against Texas would be like a freebie, plus it would set us up to pitch Keuchel in game 1.
aside from that premise being insane, fiers carries the same exhaust-ability as kazmir on monday. either are only really being burned as far as using them in relief on tuesday goes.
So pumped for tonight.... Only wish it was in Houston, that place would be rocking. Collin needs to channel his Roy O game 6 against the Cardinals. That'll put me at ease...

The players clearly understand the pressure and the situation. These last 2 games probably will determine which one of the Texas teams will be called choker by their fans. Which stupid fans always did.
