Keep all series info in this thread. Remember no play by play in this thread there are other places to get that. Keep discussions focused on the series. Non game discussion go in there own threads. All games are on RSSW unless otherwise noted. 10-2 Dallas Keuchel, LHP vs. Rubby De La Rosa, RHP 8:40 MLBN 10-3 Collin McHugh, RHP vs. Jeremy Hellickson, RHP 7:10 10-4 TBA vs. Robbie Ray, LHP 2:10
I think it will be win 2 and we're in. I think the Rangers will win at least one more game in their series.
In my opinion, if we can't win 2 of 3 in this series, we don't belong in the playoffs. Now if for some crazy reason we don't win 2 of 3, and still manage to back in to the playoffs I'll certainly take it. I just want them to seize the opportunity. Taking 2 of 3 in Seattle was impressive (especially after that last road trip from hell).
Arizonas last homestand, they will try to play spoilers. Score early and if we have to allow any runs, hopefully early but not too much.
Let's.Do.This!! Chase Field (and Coors) have been tough places for us historically. I hope this team can exorcise those demons and really give those of us who followed the team the past few years a really special memory. Go 'stros!!
Wonder why the TBA for Sunday. Unless they're planning to save McCullers for a potential playoff on Monday. Keuchel is the guy on Tues no matter what. The only question as of today is if we have a game on Monday and I'm not sure if there's that big of a difference between Fiers and McCullers to hold one back. There's no way Kaz pitches another game of importance right now.
Gotta get a big early lead tonight and have the opportunity to limit Keuchel's innings. Keep him as fresh for Tuesday as possible. If they can get up 6 or more through 5, let VV come in and finish it off.
Without blowing up my brain early in the morning to figure it out, I'd guess there isn't a scenario where we can be locked in to playing a Monday game before playing our game on Sunday, so maybe they are just evaluating whether to start Fiers or McCullers Sunday for the sake of winning that game.
That's just not going to happen unless you're talking about like a 15+ run lead. As long as he's pitching well, he's going to pitch at least 6. They are going to leave nothing to chance.
I guess I don't see where one gives you a large advantage over the other. They're both good and both pitching relatively well of late. I wonder if their thinking is that Lance might get a bit too worked up in a do or die scenario. Also...FYI, tonight is an 8:40 first pitch...
WWL This is it. By Sunday we'll find out whether the Astros are in, tied, or pissed off every fan here in Houston for choking / failing!
Don't work your brain, there is absolutely no scenario where a Monday game is known before Sunday's results are in.
Yes, and Arizona is playing well right now. They have one of the best offenses in the national league. Seeing how this game is on the road, just getting a win would be nice.
