Brewers are about to take a stranglehold on the division. How bad will the Rasmus trade look if the Cards fade from the division race?
Worse but I think that was an inevitability with LaRussa having so much obvious say in things, no matter what he states publicly. I think other higher ups had concerns about Rasmus as well, beyond his baseball ability. I thought it was a bad trade but there is more than meets the eye with a deal like that. Wasn't just about baseball.
Awful bunt by Bourgeois, blooped softly to pitcher... pitcher lets it drop though for easy DP with Barmes halfway to 1st. Pitcher throws high and wide of 1st with Barmes sliding back in and Bourgeois approaching the bag... Barmes gets up running to second, Bourgeois safe at 1st... K. Johnson backing up the throw has play at 2nd but throw is high... Barmes safe... no outs instead of yawner DP.
