White Sox just scored to go up 5-4 on the Brew Crew. If we win today...and White Sox hold on...we're freaking 4 games out of 1st place.
no, it's not too early, he's putrid. had one good game against a lousy team. we should sign pedro or sheets and pray for lightning in a bottle. solves everything. there are no big name pitchers to acquire, unless bedard is still on the market. take a chance on pedro or sheets, and you don't have to mortgage the future, and you are likely getting somebody at least as good as any of the pitchers you would realistically be trading for.
Truth... I'm worried about Moehler though. We gave him a quick 3-0 cushion and he gave 2 back in the blink of an eye. In the 2nd, their pitcher gets his first hit of the season. If not for our defense (Pence, Kata, Pudge) and Whitesell's lack of speed, it's 3-3 right now.
Pence to the m'er f'n Fence! There goes that hitless streak. It's almost as if when Hunter was hitting for average, he was missing the power. Once he started hitting some long balls again, he went into a little slump. Probably not enough ABs to draw that conclusion but it could be the case.
White Sox did their part, by the way. I guess we need St. Louis to lose to the Tribe tonight...they'll take the lead by 1/2 game tonight if they win...and then we'd be 4.5 behind the Cardinals.
Pudge is 6-for-37 over the last couple of weeks and hasn't walked or hit a HR in a month. He actually hasn't even had an extra base hit since May 26th.
This is a matchup of bad pitching against worse pitching. It has yet to be determined who is worse. I'd say Moehler as of now despite the score. He's been getting hit harder but luck and defense have bailed him out.
I love seeing Pence lay off bad pitches and earn walks. One of my favorite things about watching this team this season.
He did it last night as well. He's nothing special but he's better than what we've seen of him so far. Pudge actually had a pretty solid AB. He took some pitches and was at least able to sacrifice a run in.
Reynolds is absolutely crushing us in this series. What is that now... like his 6th extra base hit in 2.5 games?
Bourn continues to be among the best in the NL w/ RISP. And a basestealing machine. He steals 2nd then 3rd with ease. Throw in his defense and improved plate discipline... looking good. As I type this, he fools the defense on Tejada's groundout to 3rd and scores. Awesome stuff...
Anybody here watching the game? Did you see that Zavada guy with the Rollie Fingers mustache? He actually looks like a good pitcher but I know nothing about him. Another 5 run lead heading into the late innings. Let's see if we can close this one out a little cleaner than last night.
