Lidge's ERA in save situations is in the low 4.00's. He didn't get the job done tonight, but he's pretty good in save situations generally. Don't let his crappy performances in non-save situations cloud your thinking.

I'm not saying he's been great, but in save situations, he's been as good as most other 'name' closers this year. Garner needs to stop bringing him into tie games.

Isn't that Kuentin the same guy that make a 360 by himself alone catching a fly ball some nights ago? lol

Laugh all you want. Lidge was damn near lights out his last two save opportunities. Retiring the side on 11 pitches one time, and striking out the side while only allowing one walk the other time. Those are the facts.

    I'm laughing at you.

NO.....Lidges career is not saved....Seriously, what are we going to do about Lidge....He has lost it and it ain't c'mon back....We can't send Lidge down can we ?...Isn't he protected unless he's hurt ?...Hell just let him go...This is what I would do if I was Garner as soon as I walked in the clubhouse:
GARNER : " Hey Brad, you can just go home for the rest of the season and just relax and take a nice early vacation...as a matter of fact never come back.." Then we could bring up ANYONE else..I'd take a pitcher from our Rookie team over Lidge....Great Win.,...

The positives are that the team showed a lot of heart and determination. They also showed some great pop at the plate. On the down side, I seriously think they need to send Lidge to the minors for a week, or two and work on his mechanics and clear his head. Nieve could take Wheeler's spot in the pen with Dan closing out games for a while. The two steps forward, six steps back routine with Lidge is getting old. I think his mental issues are infecting the rest of the pen.

What a roller coaster!!! Great win. For the love of God and all that is holy, send Lidge to AAA or trade him for a Jimmy Buffett Parrothead. I do not want to see him on the mound. I almost feel sorry for him.

Nice to see our bats respond though.

So glad garner pulled him--God forbid Garner do his job, instead of playing the loyal stick by you coach
That got Dom Capers run out of town ;)

I already said he didn't get the job done tonight. Do you judge everything on one game? How bout taking a look at the way he pitched in his other 29 save opportunities and seeing how that compares to his non-save situation performances.

Like I said, he hasn't been great, but he has been better in save situations vs. non-save situations. Your reading comprehension needs some work.

Aces High I'm losing respect for you man...c'mon... You have some really good posts but man PLEASE don't take up for Brad Lidge....When do you give up on him ? I mean if you could not sing but you kept trying your never gonna be a singer because thats a gift...Yeah at one time Lidge could pitch but since the end of last year he has been HORRIBLE.......I'm done with Lidge and I'm sure MOST not all but MOST of the fans are too... :)

Wrap your little brain around this stat and try to spin it. Seriously try to spin this one.

Brad Lidge has allowed a run in 20 of 53 appearances this season. 20 of 53.

That last half inning was extremely painful to watch. I just don't understand how Lidge fallen so far. Oh wait... his name was Pujols.

My reading comprehension isn't the proble here, the thing is that save situation or non-save situation Lidge sucks!!! all the ways and you need to watch more game before you come here defending him.
