Well, that pitch seemed worse than the one that got Hawk ejected. Wrigley Field + P.O.'d ump = a bad combination
I was thinking the same thing. The strike zone seemed to expand between the bottom of the 8th and the top of the 9th.
I'd venture to guess that Valverde is an average to below average pitcher in these types of situations (non-save, tie game, runners on base).
Mixed bag on that one...Soriano gone is good but now almost assured to see Lee up with a chance to win it!
Valverde is seemingly pitching worse the more pressureized the situation. I would shudder to see this guy in the playoffs.
