absolutely. and if they did, i think that waiting till the last minute to have made such a big name amongst closers available could potentially even work in their favor.
Detroit, LAA, Braves and Marlins could all use a closer... Phillies, Giants, Rangers, White Sox, Twins and Marlins could all use setup help...

That's it. I've had enough. I've got better things to do with my time. going fishing or something. Horrible HORRRIBLE back to back series.
For those claiming Moehler is clearly better than Hampton and Ortiz, before yesterday, he was the only of the 3 with a negative VORP. After yesterday and today, he'll be ahead of both of them but that's nothing a bad outing or two couldn't change. Here is the complete list from best to worst, not including today: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/sortable/index.php?cid=467771
Lets see. Morton is already on the big league team. Milledge can be good, but is in the minors(was a Mets top 10 prospect I believe). Hanrahan already on the big league team. Fryer and Erickson, I dont know. Probably dont amount to nothing. Diaz and Strickland either AA or A players. Cedeno is on the big club, Clement to AAA, rest are A ball players, and last of all Alderson, I think is best out of all. He was (I remember hearing) the Giants 4th best prospect.
JorgeVargas39 Sorry to give an Astros up date but they are getting hammered again12-3 in the 8th.. Oswalt Joining team in St Louis mat start Sunday. Its something...
so they brought back a pretty weak lot. strange franchise they have over there. i guess if their goal is to have a microscopic payroll (and attendance), it's being achieved.
Besides a double play, I would say two strikeouts to our 1-2 hitters is the most fitting way to end this series.
called it. 1 down, 2 to go folks. According to Alyson Footer via Twitter, the Astros released pitcher Russ Ortiz. Ortiz's nine earned run drubbing today was apparently the last straw, as his ERA rose to 5.57.
Sammy gervacio getting called up according to MLBTR.com. Hmm, bringing up a young pitcher. Just another arm to bring up or signal of something?
