Dear Cooper, or whoever else is in charge of this stuff, Russ Ortiz is NOT a major league caliber pitcher, much less a starter. Get rid of his ass NOW. I would rather have a different AAA prospect pitch once a week than ever see this douche on the mound again.

5 million sounds like a value for a pitcher that currently has a 3.43 ERA.

If this series is an indication of Soriano turning things around, the Astros are in big trouble trying to play catch up.

On the bright side, at least this isn't nearly as bad as the shallacking yesterday.

    Yet, of course.

No wonder I'm not an ESPN insider. What amazing info they have.

    Yup they pulled it

But it wasn't because he was taking forever to make a decision, it's because the team decided it didn't want to spend the money. So we spend it on some garbage instead. Would've made Wade look like a genius if it worked.

OK il say this as "PC" as possible...

Oritz and Hampton are has beens and they need to stop NOW..

Norris needs to start along with Paulino/Bazardo combo and Moles.

Moles had a bad start his last time out but normally has been solid #5 keep him.

If the Stros dont make a move NOW after two straight crap performances by there #3 and #4 starters then its time to move Tejada and Valverde asap!

awexler Nothing more needs to be said. RT @thescorer: This is the 1st time in Astros history that a starter has given up 9+ ER back-to-back days

The above statement has no defense non what so ever!

LOL - Byrdak should have started. Our relievers are solid for the most part.

Mr. McLane, your desire to be called champions is great, but your willingness to spend to be champions is not.....That doesn't stop you from believing in your team, even though you only have two starting pitchers, and your net worth is 1.2 Billion

    Can I have some moooooorrreee

Your confindence in your team is unshakable, even when your pitchers are getting lit up like pinball machines

    Ding-Ding-Ding-Ding-Ding-Ding-Ding-Ding SCORRREE!!!!

"ESPN.com's Jayson Stark reports that the while Houston Astros continue to shop around for pitching depth, they'd expect to make a deal for another starter only if one "falls in their lap," according to one source familiar with their thinking."

that's just hilarious. drayton must be an absolute joke amongst baseball's inner circles.

Can someone explain to me why the Astros even bothered putting Ortiz on the mound today? What were they expecting honestly? A win?

All I know is that the Cubs are hitting some ridiculous number with RISP...

Another stat.... 6-9 hitters for Houston do not have hits.

Everyone except Derrek Lee has a hit for the Cubs.

And why am I still watching this game?

One thing we all have to remember because Tejada's and Val's salary are 14 and 8 million(Pro-Rated) respectfully if we dont move them by tomorrow they can still do something in August since NO ONE will claim them off waivers, see Randy Myers. I still think you hold off for a stud pitching prospect, in Tejada's case, if you're trying to move him tomorrow BUT if you go into August then yes lower the price and someone will bite for one or both!

I would like to Have Wolf too, but you guys need to know that the deal wasn't 5 million a year for 3 years, it was nearly 28.5 million of 3. Even in a healthy baseball economy, that's a big contract.
