You know it wouldn't suprise me to see Wade come out and say no trades are coming giving the company line but after this masterpiece Id expect some changes and/or for nothing to be said at all!
Couldn't take it. I watched a movie instead. Ended up 12-0 huh? Looking at the box right now ... wow, Brocail's numbers look pretty good.
IT STILL COMES DOWN TO PITCHING We are excited about the Astros...we should be. They have played the Cards and Cubs in recent days and showed they can hang. But Chicago has more firepower in their lineup, especially with Lance out of the Astros batting order. And the Cards have more pitching if Roy is out of the Astros rotation for any length of time. And that is what concerns me most about the Astros. Wandy has been exceptional and when healthy Roy is Roy again. But then what? Mike Hampton gives up 6 in the first today to the Cubs and Russ Ortiz is an adventure every time out. The bullpen is getting hammered by injury. And there's still 2 months of baseball to be played! Keep your fingers crossed for Bud Norris. The rookie righty will start Sunday in place of Roy. If he shows anything, we might see him in the rotation and Ortiz in the bullpen. Tim Melton Well said Tim well said... http://sportsblog.abc13.com/2009/07/it-still-comes-down-to-pitching.html
Norris looked good today -- at least he has good stuff compared to chumps like Ortiz and Hampton. I'd say give the kid every chance to win a spot in the rotation.
Some good news... brianmctaggart Roy Oswalt had injection into lower back and went well. Ed Wade says still on track to start.
I can say that at least Russ Ortiz has had a good stretch at one point this season. Yesterday definitely had to be Hampton's swan song in the rotation.
