it was weird--he actually raced to the ball. But once he got there, he didn't do anything. I guess it must have been obvious that there was no play, cause he didn't come up throwing and Pudge wasn't in position at all for a throw
On a side note, Mark Buehrle of the White Sox, who pitched a perfect game in his last start is 4 innings away from repeating that feat...
he had a play at nearly every plate, one out to go and a lot of innings to chew and not a whole lot of deep arms. It's not as dumb as some people claim.
