On the Soriano issue, that should be over with. New game. However, I believe that he should be prepared for some more inside pitches than usual.

    that's not how it works.
he was the last batter of the game.

if it were up to me, he'd be getting plunked.

If it were up to you, at what time would you deem it fit to plunk him? Obviously we're not risking Oswalt.

That's basically as direct as an athlete will get with the media to say he doesn't agree.

The same logic could be applied to any injury, Major. Technically, he could wake up with the flu in April, and you could always make it worse by playing, so why not DL players for everything? Team doctors -- you know, the guys who are paid to analyze this stuff -- put Lance through everything. MRI, x-ray, CT. The conclusion? 2-3 days. Can it be a bit longer than that? Sure, but going from 2-3 days to 15 is a rather dramatic shift. What really happened is Wade/Cooper got ultraconservative, worried about not having 13 healthy fielding options, and prioritized a 25th man ahead of having Berkman as a PH and potentially coming back this week.

I'm not advocating playing Lance hurt -- I understand there's a risk of reinjury. What I take issue with is the apparent belief that the 25th roster spot is so important that it's not worth having Lance as a PH and taking the chance he could come back early. This is one of the best players in baseball and by far the best offensive player on a bad offensive team -- imo, you don't shut him down for 15 days for the sake of adding Matt Kata unless you are absolutely 100% sure that there is no way on the planet that he can be healthy in that timeframe. Based on both doctors' analysis as well as Lance himself, that's not the case here.

    Shingles?

Last year we lose Matsui to an anal fissure, and now we lose Hawkins to shingles.

We had 1-0 with Wandy as well.

Batting Keppinger in the 2 spot is long overdue. Even with Matsui in there, Keppinger should be hitting in the 2 spot whenever he plays.
