Frankly, reading that KC Star columnist and some of the Carolina bloggers, I hope they (our future opponents) continue to make excuses and call us "mediocre" and "crap" and "trash" because we can continue to send them home with their tail between their legs. "Huh, how did that happen?" "How did we lose to the Texans?"

I told some here that Kuby would change the culture on this team and turn it around much like the Marvin Lewis project in Cincy just a few years ago. Kuby's resume speaks for itself he's won wherever he has been. He knows how to get it done. He has fostered feverish competition while not causing schisms amongst the ranks. He has brought a standard of excellence that he will not waiver on but rather force and demand the best from his players. Perhaps akin to the greats? Halas and Lombardi one day? Who knows.

Synopsis for game 1: A breath of fresh air ... Seeing our guys control and even dominate at times the line of scrimmage was a sight foreign to me because I have been so used to our guys getting thrown around. Nice change. :D

It was far from a great performance but what I saw was great effort and pride. When was the last time you saw our defense rally up and stifle a team with a running game like the Chiefs? Say what you want but, the Chiefs are not bottom feeder team.

We left some points that we should have gotten as many as 17 points but, definitely saw justification to galvanize my optimism that I still think we are going to have a winning season. Playoffs? Well, I previously said we probably miss out on the last week of the season which isn't a bad thing because, our defense could use some more seasoning and maybe at least a few more tweaks.

This much is for certain ... this team is NO longer a laughingstock! Good quality win for week 1 now, consistency? Can we take care of business against a good team in their house? Carolina's good but IMO they can be had. Can hardly wait for this Sunday!
