We may be going to this place called Stars tonight to play trivia. I'm heading to Austin either tomorrow or Sunday. Family reunion for a week. Shoot me an e-mail... blake.gifford@datacert.com
So much for the national tv here in Austin. Lady Bird Johnson ceremony is taking over local tv. Every network in town is carrying it.
WHAT IN THE **** GARNER? WHAT...... IN........... THE.......... ****? I've got it! I'll send ROY out there AGAIN to get ****ing rocked around. Good job you ****ing moron. I've had it with Garner being an idiot this season.
Just didn't have it. Couple of strike calls coulda gone his way in the disaster that was the 5th inning. He allowed 5 runs through 5. What does Garner do? I'll trot my ace out there for another inning in which he gives up 4 runs and they were hitting Roy hard. correction: 4 runs through 5 (one was on an ausmus error). it doesn't matter though, the box score read what the box score read and that was 5-1 after 5.
Sell for what? This team has the "pieces" they just don't perform. The only players people would want are Lance, Roy, Hunter, and El Caballo. No reason to dump any of them. Phil needs to settle on a consistent line up and let the cards fall where they may.
Pieces, what pieces? We have about 3 or 4 good position players, a below par (for him) Roy O, and maybe 2 or 3 mediocre pitchers and a bunch of underachievers. Sounds like a recipe for success to me. Lamb and Loretta could be traded as could Qualls, Wheeler, and Lidge. You don't have to be a stud for teams to want you.
Speaking of Roy, what's his deal this year? Is it just the by-product of a ****ty season or is it because he's not striking out as many as he used to? (I know he said he was cutting back on throwing so many pitches just for a strikeout prior to this season). Granted, Roy pitches into contact which causes a fair amount of pitches to get hit every once in a while, but this season... it seems a little more than every once in a while.
no pitcher is at their best every single year. this is just a bad season for the team and for him. oswalt has just been so unbelievably consistent from day one that we got used to it. i'm pretty sure in the national league he's been in a class by himself for the last 6 years. that being said, his off year is still better then over 90% of any other pitcher in the league, and he has the capability to roll out 8 or 9 gems in a row to finish out the year. i'm gonna watch all the games, but i've written off this year. it just seems so jinxed.
