I was hoping they'd take him in the 7th. I don't like the idea of Van Pelt being the 3rd string. I'd rather see someone like Zabransky or Porter get groomed in the event Rosenfels leaves or gets hurt.
From NFL.com about our new DT: Compares To: Reggie White, ex-Philadelphia/Green Bay … To compare a player to White is something that can not be done without much consideration … But the more you see Okoye on game films, the more convinced you become that he will not only have a long, fruitful career, but will continue to grow both physically and mentally. He has such great fire and plays with the relentless pace that made White the measuring stick for all other defensive linemen … He has the low center of gravity to play over the head of the center, the speed and explosion to shoot the gaps and the quickness to even move out and attack on the edge … Okoye is The NFL Draft Report's top-rated player for the 2007 draft.
I might be wrong, but wasn't Mario Williams considered the "top-rated defensive player" in last year's draft?
Yes, of course he was. I guess instead of having "Gayle Sayers" and "Tommy Brady" the Texans will have to settle for "Bruce Smith" and "Reggie White". That's not too optimistic is it?
I like Zabransky's pro potential over Leak but still suprised to see both go undrafted. I like that pickup though, Zabransky was pretty underrated because of their conference, but he showed a lot of guts and poise vs. OU.
Anyone that punks the Dirt Burgglers on national TV during a BCS Bowl game deserves a spot in the NFL. I'll always root for Z-man.
Zabransky's accuracy leaves a lot to be desired. es But his poise and arm strength impressed me. I expect him to take Van Pelt's spot.
