I think picking Jacoby Jones was a good choice. He has good size (6'4), excellent speed and agility for his size, and with some work could develop into a good #2 receiver for the Texans. With his speed and size he also gives us a good deep threat. I do not really think that Mathis and Jones are that similar, for one Mathis is only about 5'11 and Jones is 6'4. One thing that the scouts disliked about Jones is that he uses his fingers to catch instead of his palms.
Zach Diles, ILB Kansas State Strengths: Reads keys quickly, shows an explosive first step and can make plays at the line of scrimmage. Closes well and flashes the ability to deliver the big hit. Shows good body control, wraps up upon contact and is a reliable open field tackler. Shows the ability to slip blocks in space, has sideline-to-sideline range and makes plays all over the field. Plays with a non-stop motor and is relentless in pursuit. Can cover a lot of ground and gets good depth when asked to drop into zone coverage. Flashes the ability to change directions quickly, bursts out of cuts and shows good man-to-man cover skills. Shows a good sense of timing and takes the shortest path to the quarterback when asked to blitz. Weaknesses: Is undersized, gets engulfed at times and is vulnerable to wearing down in an every-down role. Plays too high and gets driven back at times. Doesn't use hands well, lacks ideal upper body strength and takes too shed blocks. Avoid blockers rather than stacking them up, overruns holes and can get caught out of position. Doesn't show a variety of pass rush moves and lacks the lower body strength to push blockers back into the quarterback. Lacks ideal ball skills and isn't a play maker in coverage. Overall: Diles originally attended Fresno City College where he made 22 starts, 130 total tackles, and intercepted five passes over the course of the 2003 and 2004 seasons. He transferred to Kansas State in 2005 and played in all 11 games off the bench, finishing the year with 50 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles. Diles became a starter in 2006 for all 13 contests and collected 99 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble that he returned 43 yards for a touchdown. Diles isn't a prototypical interior run stuffer who can clog up the middle but he has the speed and athletic ability to develop into a solid reserve that also contributes on special teams. Diles projects as a late-round pick.
uh Oh. Looks like i'm cheering for another team. He better catch on with the Texans as a FA. If he doesn't catch on with the Texans, he better go play for the Argos.
Not according to Mel Kiper... Inside Linebackers 1. Patrick Willis, Mississippi 2. David Harris, Michigan 3. Buster Davis, Florida State 4. Justin Durant, Hampton 5. Zak DeOssie, Brown 5a. Rory Johnson, Mississippi* 5b. Brandon Siler, Florida* 5c. Nate Harris, Louisville
I'm a Titans fans 1st,Texans fan 2nd and a student of the nfl in general. I predicted and thought the Texans made the right choice last season. A season later it looks like they should have taken Young, but if the Texans taken young without Kubiak getting a chance to coach up Carr, then what? After seeing what they Carr struggle and basically shell shocked with no leadership, they moved on. To me, Bush shouldn't have ever been a option. Had they drafted bush and had him running through the middle on a line slightly worse than n.o. line, people would have been crying about why they are using bush wrong. I think if this draft which should include schaub plays out well, people will finally let it go. I pull for Titans because i'm a oilers fans, but i want both teams to win. My ideal scenerio would be both to make the playoffs and maybe they will. Okoye and Williams will be a devestating line combo in this league.
Mel Kiper just whispered the sweet name of Selvin Young. He said he was talent with ability. yeah man, yeah.
The Texans could very well take a look at Selvin Young through free agency. Not a big fan of Darius Walker but I think he deserves a look as well.

Really maybe that gives the Texans an advantage in the recruitment process. I am suprised he went undrafted because he was a very productive player in ACC and was a three year starter. He might not fight with the Texans because he is a better fit in a Cover 2 defense because he isn't that big.
