[Didn't see this posted] The final "hehehe" = F.U. Texans.
But what if you didn't have a home team that you were already attached to? Lots of people just aren't hooked into the Texans because (a) they haven't been around a lot and (b) they haven't done a lot to make people love them. If you didn't have the Rockets and were looking for a team to root for, would you not have started rooting for KG or AI's teams?
Well, the Texans jokes have already started. Here in Dallas on sports talk radio, I heard the Okoye pick described as the "Mario Williams Bail-Out Pick". The rip I'm hearing most is: "The Texans drafted another defensive lineman to chase Vince Young around the field". Cute...although I fail to see how Cowboys fans can continue to be so smug when they did exactly what Houston did: draft yet another defensive player two years in a row. Oh well, at least the Texans don't have to put up with Terrell Owens.
No, the Cowboys need to lock Jerry Jones out of their draft room. I predict that they will come to rue the day that they finally get a shot at a top-flight QB prospect in Brady Quinn and they passed on him in favor of keeping Tony Romo. This struck me as almost the same situation that Miami faced in 1983 when Dan Marino fell to them at the end of the draft. Not saying that Quinn is another Marino but you can see my point here. I see this as the David Carr fiasco all over again which will be a good thing because it will give Texans' fans something to snicker about in the years ahead.
But didn't you choose the Rockets and Astros based on the fact that you were born in or moved to Houston? Why are the Texans different, other than VY? Maybe that is the only reason.
Why does Vince Young have that weird crease in his neck? It creeps me out, but if it happened because of some unfortunate incident I will feel bad for saying that...
For many people, they grew up with the Astros/Rockets - when you're a kid, it's much easier to just attach yourself to a team because it's what you know. Most people here didn't grow up with the Texans and have no childhood memories of them or 10 or 20 year history with them. With the expansion of NFL Ticket, NBA League Pass, the internet, etc, you also can more easily follow other teams today than you could 10 or 15 years ago. Back then, if you were going to be a fan, you pretty much had to watch your home team if you wanted to see any games. Now, you have far more options.
