Explain to me the connection with Rick Smith and not taking VY. P.S. The Texans weren't the only team asking about Schaub. It's not like the Falcons had to take whatever Houston offered.
I said essentially a mid-first rounder... if you add up points on the draft value chart from the drop from 8 to 10 and the two second round picks, that's essentially one mid-first round pick that they gave up.
Yea, hitting the lottery in the later round really excuses screwing up the single easiest, most slam dunk, clear cut draft decision in years.
Courtesty of Yahoo Okoye, a 19-year-old defensive lineman, is expected to be taken in the first round of the upcoming NFL draft and become the youngest player to join the league since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger – provided he can survive days like the one last week.
VY wasn't the clear cut draft decision. Reggie Bush was. I don't have a time machine but I remember that clearly.
I'm not the biggest Reggie Bush fan in the world, but I think it'd be a bit shortsided to ignore his 88 catches and 1300 yards in his rookie season, despite splitting time with Deuce. (That's not even counting any return yardage.) So, I'm not saying he was the right pick for the Texans, but I have a funny feeling that there are very few Saints coaches, players and fans who regret the pick.
Yeah, that's what I want out of my running back, catches and return yardage. I don't care if Okoye gets a bunch of tackles or sacks. I hope he gets more interceptions than any other D-Lineman.
There's more than just one guy making the call.. I can imagine the Falcons weren't wanting to wait around 2-3 years for Amobi to "grow up" either
He was good in the passing game, and a good player overall. I think he's very comparable to Brian Westbrook, who had 77 catches for 699 yards last year but had significantly better rushing production than Reggie. That said, will Bush improve the next couple of years? Absolutely - he improved a lot the last 4-6 weeks of the season, and that will likely continue as it will for most rookies. If he keeps developing, he'll be very similar to Brian Westbrook, who is a very good player. Given that and the fact that they won games, I certainly don't expect the Saints to regret the pick. However, if you had the #1 overall pick, would you trade it for Brian Westbrook? Is Brian Westbrook the kind of guy who's arguably the best prospect in the history of the league, a guy who you wouldn't pass on in any circumstances?
Ha ha....that's a dumbass comment. Good job. Look at how New Orleans chose to use Bush- they utilized his strengths and gave a lot of the goal line and short yardage looks to Deuce. So those yards and catches don't count because they are from a running back? Those two receiving TD's don't count because he comes from out of the backfield? One of Bush's main strengths was his versatility, so stop being an ass and dismissing that.
