I'm no Hinch fan but are you seriously complaining about him saving the bullpen when he has a guy pitching so well and on a low pitch count???
You can pencil in Fister for 6 to 7 innings, 2 to 3 runs. Very solid. If just a couple of the other starters were pitching up to his level the team would be in much better shape, even with the inconsistent offense.
Why take out a starting pitcher that has been great all year, with under to near only 80 pitches and a 3 run lead? Why use one of our good relievers when you don't have to yet.
Most quality starting staffs do have pitchers that can pitch into the 7th. Fister sitting at 81 pitches through 7... with a 3 run lead. He'll probably be out there for the 8th too. Who are you... Jimy Williams?
First, not sure what you mean by 'consistently'. Second, every single time, except once, a starter who has gone 7+ innings has given up 2 runs or less. Also, McHugh gave up 3 runs in his complete game.
