It would be nice if Matsui could make a plus play defensively here or there since he's failing miserably at the plate.

He's had 2 somewhat tough plays so far in this game. I think he should have done more on at least one of them. On another play, I think he threw to the wrong base and had plenty of time to get the guy going to 2nd.

Bad start to the bottom half of the inning. Let's see if the Astros can avoid immediately giving up a rare lead.

Top of the order for the Cards with men on 1st and 2nd and no outs.

just wouldn't be the astros if they didn't make us sweat the very next half inning.

Several of our relievers have been good this season but few have faced many pressure situations.

I thought they'd at least tie the game. Good work by Sampson.

Pujols has been struggling over the last week or so.

Penny actually gave up 0 ER.

Puma's HR was our first ER of the game.

Pence regains the team HR lead for himself.

This is the best Astros baseball I've seen all season. That little boy that was standing behind St. Louis dugout better thank his lucky stars that Pence's bat didn't smack him right in the head. Anyone see the guy standing next to him?? His reaction was Hi-larious.

I didn't see the kid but that was a pretty nice one-armed grab by the guy who caught the bat. And he didn't drop his beer to boot.

Damn. I had just turned off the game to finish an internship letter. BAH! Missed the big 7th inning and homers in the 8th.

Lindstrom has a chance to avoid the heart of the order here.

It would be funny to leapfrog the Cubs, even for just a few days, just to see the mass hysteria in Cubs land.

Johnny Cueto pitched a 1-hitter tonight with 0 walks. The only hit he gave up was a single to light-hitting Ronny Cedeno and it deflected off the infielder's glove.

If I recall correctly, this guy was their top pitching prospect before Volquez stepped up a couple of seasons ago.

Castro had a real nice game tonight. 2-for-3 with 2 walks and no strikeouts. No XBHs but still a nice line.

Clemens also went 2-for-3 for Corpus with 1 HR, 1 BB and 0 SOs.

It was a pitch down and away, which he usually does not make contact.

Yet he hit it. Not only did he hit it; he pulled it. Not only did he pull it; he went yard. Dude is crazy strong.
