My guess is Roy was trying to go down and in and get Pujols to top the ball. He missed by a little and paid for it. Roy is fearless and that's one of the many reasons he's been so successful. You just have no room for error against Pujols.
I doubt the only guy who said that is reading this board. He's hunched over in a STL dugout right now.
Cecil Cooper will resign under pressure, the Astros will hire a new manager (somebody competent) and will win 84 games.
Seriously, if it's going to cost you 7 runs, then maybe we should have just walked him/in a run with the bases loaded and walked him with 2 men on. lol
That debate has taken place many times. I think they showed that it actually makes sense to pitch to him in most situations. Not sure about bases loaded though.
Alright...with a win tomorrow and a sweep of Pittsburgh, we'll be right at .500 when the homestand starts on Friday.
These numbers maybe misleading because typically when Wandy (or any SP for that matter) has a bad outing he does not last particularly long out there so probably no more than 60 pitches would be thrown. On the days when he throws 90+ pitches, he obviously is throwing the ball well. That said, go Wandy -- avoid the sweep.
That was my first thought as well, but he only had 1 game (out of 25 starts) where he didn't reach at least 75 pitches. So it certainly could affect the 61+ part, but the 0-30 vs. 31-60 seems to be relatively reliable data.
90% if high school outfielders would have charged the ball and thrown the runner out at third. Man...Carlos Lee is fat, slow and non-flexible. He can barely bend down to field the ball on the run. He threw with his right foot forward, something I'm teaching my young daughters NOT to do in softball at ages 7 and 9. Wow.
Here it is, Easter ... you know what would be nice? A lead. A ******* lead. Not necessarily a win, mind you .. just a lead. Not asking for much. This team is pathetic. PEEEEEE YOU
