The umps are enjoying the quick pace of the game. They just want to go home.

We should ruin their plans in the 9th.

So we kept Roy in the game solely to retire the bottom of their order in the bottom of the 7th??????

    My only guesses are that:

    A) Cooper is more concerned with Oswalt increasing his confidence than winning this game.

    or

    B) Cooper made a bad decision.

Damnit, Lee, Pence and Wigginton show less than an ounce of patience between them. Was that about 5 pitches to get all 3 out? At least we made their closer work for the save. FFS pathetic

Pitching to Pujols with no men on in the 6th looks even worse now.

That's what was weird to me. I can see the logic in letting him hit and getting two more innings out of him. He was only at 91 pitches at that point after 7.

I guess Brocail needed the work in the 8th.

Very generous strike zone by the ump for both teams, though I thought some of the calls the Cards pitchers got were especially generous.

    7 pitches.

We probably could have taken a couple more pitches but Franklin did a good job of not getting shaken by the Berkman HR. He kept throwing mostly strikes.

Especially on Matsui in the 8th . Strike three was way outside , and Wyatt Earp , uh .... Jason Larue had to move out to get it !
