    agreed, gallo needs to go.

And really, we have 2 ideal #8 hitters in this lineup in Willy and Adam (when he's playing). That's a problem, cause you're left sticking one in the 1/2 hole. We're lucky not to have 3 ideal #8 hitters since Ausmus has been solid, if not very good, this year

edit: and I think Willy is the one who needs to improve or be benched in favor of Burke or Bruntlett or whoever

Was Qualls unavailable today? Either way Mike Gallo/Trever Miller should not be used in tight games and definitely not in extra innings . I would much rather had Lidge pitch 2 innings. I cannot fathom losing the game with Lidge still Unused. This was a very winnable series for the Astros and Phil Garner/Worthless lefties wasted it away. If they win today taking a series from them at their place would have been huge, but alas they ran into Mike Gallo.

MIKE GALLO IS THE MOST WORTHLESS PIECE OF ****. THAT IS THE SECOND GAME HE HAS COST US ON THIS ROAD TRIP.....

that's one of the reason's that i cant complain too much about everett...him, ausmus, taveras, and biggio all are poor hitters. i am not going to argue about this...i know very few of you will agree or admit this about biggio and most of you are fairweather ausmus fans, and dont understand that he will be hitting under .260 by season's end, but anyway....

that's 5 (including pitchers spot) players of the 9 in the lineup that are incapable of hitting for any power or average, and unless we have light's out pitching carry us like last season, that's not a formula for success.

it's frustrating to me how easily this team can be improved, but i've faced the facts that biggio and ausmus are going to play however long they damn well please. we aren't going to be a good offensive team till they are gone though.

When Gallo makes an appearance in a game, we lose. It's as simple as that.

    It's simple psych-101.

Be it bringing him in after we're already getting shelled, or bringing him in during a close game, we lose. Bad moods abound. We recieve the "L"

    Cut the cancer, please sir?

Gallo is really starting to remind me of Lidge, blowing games like this.

    Oh wait, Lidge has talent.

We have been a good offensive team (not great) with those two in the lineup. The offense isn't the problem. It's the pitching, which should receive a boost in the next few weeks.

And as for Bidge... among NL second basemen this year. He his top 5 in slugging, 11th in OBP, 13th in avg, 3rd in total bases, 4th in walks, 7th in RBIs, 1st in doubles, 4th in hits and 4th in runs, yet you wanna get rid of him? I'll take Ausmus over most others (even if his average dips to his career norm) because of his defense and game-calling ability. It's amazing people keep bringing up the same tired points about Bidge and Ausmus and Everett. C'mon guys, the one weak spot on this team, in terms of fielding and batting, is clearly the outfield. We find bats for at least 2 of those 3 spots the team will be improved and I doubt you'd hear anymore talking about replacing Everett.

Why is the argument centering around Everett? He's a #8 hitter. Why is no one jumping on Ensberg slumping in the 4 spot...

Or Willy in the leadoff spot... and his performance has been far worse than Ensberg (who is streaky) or Everett (who doesn't hurt the team as much in the 8 hole).

These two games that Gallo cost us are huge. instead of going 3-7 on this trip the Astros could have gave 5-5. 29-25 looks a lot better than 27-27.

I know gallo isnt the only reason we have lost games, but right now him and Everett are my whipping boys.

Absolutely an awful trade, if you planned on playing Jeter at shortstop. Talent wise, I'd do it if Jeter agreed to play 1B or corner outfield.

I definitely wouldn't pay 18 million more money per season for that.

Everett over Vizquel... is that a serious question? He's much younger, cheaper.

Everett over Michael Young at shortstop, talent wise I'd take Young if he would play a different position like corner outfield or first base.

i guess i meant to ask who you thought was better. who you'd rather have on your team right now, since that is what we're talking about.

and yes, who would you rather have at ss, young or everett? quit manipulating the questions.

The Yankee's payroll is nearly 200 million, double the Astros payroll. Financial considerations are negligible.

Jeter is an icon in New York, team captain, face of the franchise.

From a strictly baseball perspective, the Yankees would be better off with Everett at SS over Jeter. But that's an irrelavant fact because from a strictly baseball perspective, the Yankees would be better off with Jeter at 3B and ARod at SS. There are way too many other variables with Jeter specifically in NY.

I think Everett is better than Vizquel, I would rather have Everett on my team than Vizquel.

I think Michael Young is a better hitter than Everett, I would rather have him on my team than Everett because his value is higher. However, I would rather have Everett at shortstop over Young.

    I'm not "manipulating the questions".

should have pitched to Pujols... could have given Taylor a bunch of confidence... instead we loaded the bases and let them tie it up...
