I'd rather still be playing having exhausted all our best pitchers before I lose a game with my worst (with two more guys just doing nothing in the bullpen).

Having Lidge available for the save situation is pretty meaningless if Gallo blows the game.

Right move would have been to bring in Lidge. He can pitch more than one inning if need be.

Garner and Purpura are asses. Why is Gallo in the big leagues? Why the **** is he in the game when you still have Qualls and Lidge left?

Gallo needs to go. Seriously. He's a "left-handed specialist" who can't get lefties out, much less get righties out. How he still has a job is beyond my comprehension.

Almost seems like overmanaging to me, cause if Gallo gives up the winning run then you don't even get to your best relief pitcher. And look what happened. They didn't even have anybody to bring in when Gallo got into trouble and he gave up the run. And you wasted an opportunity to use Lidge and keep the game going and the chance to win alive.

No the right move would have been to cut Gallo last week. Use whoever else you bring up in that situation, and be able to use Lidge later against Pujols and Rolen.

This is Garners fault. No way should he leave Gallo out there the entire inning. That isn't his role.

Of course, had Lidge or anyone other than Gallo given up that run, 99.9% of this board would be b****ing about that.

We just played the best team in the league to three really good games coming off a horrible horrible start to the road trip.

Gallo needs to go now! This is ridiculous. 2 extra innings games in one week he blows.

    CUT GALLO NOW!

Gallo gives up three scorchers.... its not even like he's unlucky at this point. At least Miceli was good before his playoff failures. At least Trevor Miller has improved after he came back from an injury (which could have been why he was ineffective before).

Gallo has never been good... he doesn't have stuff that he can magically improve to become good... and he's certainly never going to have confidence to believe that he's good himself.

The Cardinals were going to have 2 innings to score no matter what. Assuming Lidge can only go one (my guess, based on recent fatigue issues). You lose if they score in either inning, and Pujols & company come up in the 2nd inning. Would you rather Lidge pitch to the bottom scrubs or to the top of the order?

Not Gallo's fault.. He indicated his inefficiency by putting 3(not 1, not 2) runners on bases. If Garner still can't catch it.. Its not his fault

I don't think a single person would say "Why did they put in Lidge over Gallo."

I know the guy has to pitch because he's on the roster... the point is, do you think he should be on the roster? Brandon Puffer would be a MUCH better option at this point... especially since Gallo DOESN'T GET LEFTIES OUT.

Its not simply a question of today's game strategy that's bothering everybody... you're right that you'd want another pitcher besides Lidge pitching to the bottom of the lineup.

The point is nobody wants Gallo... at any time... at any place. Its unfortunate that he's on the roster.

I fail to see how that's Garner's issue.

Send Mike Gallo home to Italy. Call up someone like Chris Sampson, Brandon Puffer, Chris Baker, or Travis Driskill. I don't why Phil and Timmy always want to keep Gallo because he is left handed. He is the worst pitcher I have maybe ever seen and I am dead serious when I say that.

I'd rather the Astros still be playing this game. You bring Lidge in to retire the side and the Astros have another chance to score runs. You put yourself in the best position to win, and Gallo wasn't it.
