Yes he misplayed a pop up yesterday.

The ball was in the wind and he had a bit of a run, but should have caught it.

But Pena ran for a ground ball and flipped it into right field last week. Does that make him a terrible shortstop who should only play DH?

weird errors happen to everyone. Thats why very few players finish a season with a 1.000 fielding percentage.

    It's one play.

And he hit a 2 run homerun yesterday.

No reason for him not to play LF or RF today, or 50%+ of the games moving forward, especially if it allows Altuve to DH.

I can see Caratini and Dezenzo taking up ABs with Altuve and Yainer sharing DH duty...

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. I’m saying that one error by an everyday GG shortstop is exactly the same as dropping a pop up playing right field once. Yes I am clearly saying that Pena should be our DH now. Absolutely. Put Chas at SS, he has made zero errors there.

By the way, I was talking about Walker

walker “also” misplayed a pop up

    and walker bats 4th tonight

I'm sorry I attached my response to the wrong post.

My response was to the people who were saying Dezenzo does not belong in the OF because of that missed pop up.

1 play should NEVER determine if ANYONE is good, bad, or indifferent fielding a position.

Just like someone getting a speeding ticket does not mean they are a maniac or unsafe behind the wheel.

My eyes tell me Dezenzo is fine in the outfield.

He’s a terrible outfielder. Agree to disagree.

He’s not going to become a better OF by sitting on the bench. Before he dropped that ball yesterday, never heard you once say he was a “terrible outfielder” so you’re essentially basing it off one bad game out there. Going to need to see him out there a lot more before anyone can make a definitive determination of whether he can stick out there.

This whole thing seems like a thinly veiled attempt at saying Chas should be out there.

When has my preference for chas starting ever been thinly veiled? If Chas is in RF yesterday, and Dezenzo at DH (especially since yordan was out) the astros win the game. They also win if Cam or Dubon is in right with dezenzo at DH.

I’ve now seen a worse “left fielder” than Altuve.

Good point lol can’t argue with you there.

If our offense wasn’t so trash, I’d be more inclined to agree with you. At this point kind of think they have to see what they have with Dezenzo though.

    Absolutely. Agree to disagree.

He's not a good OF YET but he is far from terrible.

And, yes you have never hidden your bias for Chas. Way to own it.

Bias based on an .842 OPS that no other guys we’ve tried have touched over a full season.
