- great outing by Framber. Hopefully he's on the right track - stat-pad game for the offense - every starter reached except Chas - Rodgers is getting some good swings recently - Dezenzo is swinging well - Peña *is* the leadoff hitter .
Baseball is always so predictable, everybody knew Pena and Meyers were gonna be our best hitters this season. Since he's gotten a chance to play almost everyday, Dezenzo's K rate has been much improved. Only 5 K's in his last 30 PA, which isn't enough of a sample to be confident about but it's still good to see.
They have tried and I would assume will keep trying. They have discussed tacking even just one more year on - all the way up to 2-3. He is not a player talked about often - but he is under-rated, his approach to hitting is fairly sophisticated, and while he has speed issues - he has really strong instincts and grinds pitchers down.
He looks like a big leaguer to me - and a starter at that. I know adjustments can be made, but he has looked competent. His power isn't really translating, and some of that is an adjustment for strikeouts - but I think the power will come around, he is just too strong and his approach is built for power. In this era of baseball, if he is "okay" at drawing walks and hits with any real power - he is a starter if he keeps his average above like 235-240. You look at a walk rate - of even 10%, and 25 home runs per 550 at bats, coupled with solid doubles - and an average of around 235 and you have an OPS approaching 775-800 and that is a very good starter in 2025.
I would have absolutely no problem with a $110M/5yr extension that starts in 2026 (buying out 3 FA years). He’s only 26 so that extension would only take him thru his age 31 season. He might be a poor 3B by that last year but he is an excellent stabilizer for the lineup with his ability to take pitches and wear pitchers down, and the fit for Daikin adds to his value.
That’s like the functional equivalent of 3/85, right? that seems a bit steep this far out from FA. I’d probably want something like 6/120 which works out to like a 4/95 extension after arbitration.
HOLY SSHHHTTT https://www.mlb.com/news/ryan-pressly-allows-9-runs-in-11th-inning-against-giants According to OptaSTATS, Pressly became the only MLB relief pitcher ever to allow eight-plus earned runs in a game, not record an out and get credit for his team's loss since earned runs became an official stat in both leagues in 1913. Yahoo Sports' Jake Mintz & Jordan Shusterman noted that he is one of 15 pitchers and eighth reliever to face at least eight batters and not retire any of them. https://www.si.com/fannation/mlb/fa...ng-meltdown-8-earned-runs-0-outs-01jtnbxf6fvs
