What have you seen from Abreu?

Bagwell: I would tell the fans he’s gonna be fine. He has a long track record. He’s going through it right now. He’s getting stuck a little bit. His brain tells his bat head to get to the ball and that means he has to lean back and either gets jammed or tops the ball.. Every single person who’s played this game has been through what he’s through. New team and all that. Nobody cares more than Jose. … It becomes in your brain. I don’t care how long you’ve been playing this game. Mentally, you get messed up. He’s going through it right now but all it takes is one swing and one pitch. When you’re struggling, there’s no trust.

How much of it is a new team?

I’m sure it does. To come to a new team, sign a big contract, there’s gotta be some pressure. He cares. That’s an attribute that I like that he has.
