Actually, Maddux at his best was still consistently in the high 80's and up to 91 on occasion. Later in his career, velocity went down first (prior to command and movement) and production declined.

I'm not going to wake you up because it will never happen. You mentioned that a certain speed with excellent command doesn't matter. I gave you your answer. Speed means nothing when location is good. There's your example.
